Doppler-beamed AGN Jets and the Blazar Divide: Insights from Multiwavelength Systematics
Abstract
We investigate the systematics of the properties of highly Doppler-beamed relativistic jets at multiple frequencies, including gamma-ray data from the Fermi telescope and MOJAVE radio imaging on parsec scales. We test the hypothesis that the Blazar divide constitutes a dichotomy. For samples dominated by highly Doppler-beamed active galactic nuclei, there are limitations to using the standard radio core-dominance parameter as a statistical measure of orientation. We therefore explore alternate measures to probe the Doppler factor in the context of the Blazar divide.
